8462 - IT Buyer (Procurement)

Location: McLean, VA


Reporting to a Manager of Procurement Operations, the Buyer is responsible for carrying out the purchasing operations on behalf of Strategic Sourcing & Procurement.  The Buyer will drive all purchase order creation/changes, and conduct spot buying activities for the organization. The Buyer will assist resolving purchase order issues that cannot be resolved by the customer service team. Responsible and accountable for receiving requisitions and processing POs and coordinating with internal departments to ensure on-time and policy-compliant vendor payments. The Buyer will also support the departments contract and PO renewal programs and provide quality controls around the contracting process. 

 

Responsibilities Include:
o    Responsible and accountable for receiving requisitions and business area requests, PO processing, and conducting spot buys
o    Conduct the buying of low $, low value, low risk goods / services
o    Negotiate with suppliers on price
o    Responsible for the quality & accuracy of data on a purchase order
o    Meet departmental standards for productivity as measured by metrics                           
o    Oversee and manage special projects as assigned                                                       
o    Ensure timely and accurate information is provided to SS&P Leadership
Basic Requirements
o    2-5 years professional experience in Procurement, Finance, Accounting, and/or Supply Chain Management
o    Financial Services Procurement experiences desired
o    PeopleSoft experience preferred
o    IT negotiation and contract experience a plus     
o    Ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written) with co-workers, Freddie Mac employees, and vendors               
o    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail                   
o    General knowledge of Microsoft suite including Excel ,Word and PowerPoint
o    Ability to process transactions efficiently and accurately
