Experience Designer

Location: Washington, DC

(Description of role) Key Job Functions: As an Experience Designer, you will collaborate with other Experience Designers, Content Strategists, User Researchers, as well as Product and Technology counterparts to create exceptional digital product designs and brand across a variety of platforms and user touch points.  You will work in close partnership with with Marketing counterparts in the development, refinement and delivery processes, offering optimizations to our workflow and approach where needed. 

What You’ll Do: ? Leverage a user-centered, design-thinking approach to execute research, discovery, ideation, creation and delivery of solutions that simplify the complex for our users.  ? Research internal and external customer needs to develop new design concepts. ? Use customer-driven insights and agile principles to deliver improved customer experiences. ? Use a variety of methodologies (e.g., design research, collaborative work sessions, prototyping) to achieve project objectives in changing business contexts. ? Create compelling user interfaces using modern tools and technologies with a focus on building future-proof systems that perform at scale. ? Develop and iterate rapid models of proposed design solutions for the purposes of communication, evaluation, and user testing.  ? Delivering in the full design product life cycle of the customer journey, incorporating digital experience and service design for a holistic experience that goes beyond the screen. 

? Identify new technologies, methods, and tools that can add additional visual display capabilities and enhance site and app usability. ? Execute on our standard for front-end design patterns and maintain graphic standards and branding throughout the UI. ? Keeping our users at top of mind to constantly elevate our offering and achieve beyond expectations.


What You’ll Bring: ? 3+ years experience in Experience Design, including mobile interfaces, deploying and maintaining production features to users at scale for consumer experiences. ? 2+ years experience operating in an agile environment. ? Impeccable execution and care for all aspects of design, from conceptual thinking to motion and visual design. ? Strong experience in digital design tools such as Sketch, InVision, Abstract, and also creation of design specifications, partner/client brand collateral, icons, illustrations and infographics that adhere to established brand standards, voice and tone. ? Experience using advanced prototyping to gather user feedback and actionable insights. ? Expertise in working with design systems that impact the workflows of all designers and developers. ? Experience with Responsive/Adaptive design principles; Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, iOS, Android design principles and methods. ? Assist with the creation of visual style guides including examples, rules and rationales. ? Exhibit thought leadership on design patterns, current trends and methodologies. ? Demonstrated ability to synthesize and present findings, and articulate design rationale.

What we’re looking for: ? The desire to work in fast-paced environment.  Design agency or in-house creative studio experience with ability to be flexible, adaptable, independent and reliable. ? Experience in an early-mid stage startup environment, where product/market fit is continuing to be evaluated, re-evaluated and recalibrated. ? Experience designing for groups of people (international audiences, multi-language localization, accessibility for people with disabilities, etc.) ? A strong portfolio showcasing your work, with clear indication of your role (include link on your resume).
